Hello I am Gail Hunter I trained with the college of Foot health in Southport the sister company of the Institute of Chiropodists and Podiatrists. I regularly go back to Southport for my continued professional development training,  

taught by consultant Podiatrists to ensure I have the most up to date knowledge and support.

I have worked in podiatry led clinics in Knaresborough, Yarm, Northallerton and Leyburn as well as gaining experience within an NHS setting 

I have now taken over the Leyburn clinic in the heart of the dales. My friend and mentor Podiatrist and Ear Practitioner Andrew Waites who still works closely with me and supports me in my new venture is still very much part of the new Leyburn Health Clinic.

As well as being a Foot Health Practitioner I also offer Reflexology.  

Reflexology works by approaching the body holistically. I  apply gentle and repeated pressure to key reflex regions (zones) on your feet . These carefully researched zones correspond with specific body structures, organs and organ systems through meridians or channels. If an illness or stress occurs in the body, the corresponding energy meridian/channel can be affected, and that structure or organ may then start to present with symptoms.

Reflexology is an effective treatment that works to release these areas of dysfunction and helps restore the body’s natural balance. The gentle and rhythmic techniques instil a level of relaxation that can help to result in lower stress and a feeling of euphoric well-being. In fact, many patients feel refreshed, recharged and rejuvenated and very relaxed after a treatment

I have had a Health Care career spanning some 34 years,from my pre Nursing days, becoming an Optician and latterly  a Chiropodist/Podiatrist. I completed additional specialisms, including a Diploma in Podiatric Medicine, Diabetic foot care and Neuropathies, Cryosurgery, Dermatology and Sports Injuries and Medical Electrotherapy. I worked in Private practice, retiring recently from front line services but supporting my colleagues at the Leyburn Health Clinic on a consultation basis. As the Clinic was acquired by my colleague, Gail Hunter in Spring of 2024, it continues to go from strength to strength and the foot care is now supported by Carly Wilson (Podiatrist). 

I operate part time now, utilising my training as an Ear Wax Removal Practitioner to complement the many services offered in the Leyburn Health Clinic. I am affiliated to the Tympa Ear Care system and linked to a team of specialist Consultant  Audiologists. I undertake wax Removal by micro suction and/or irrigation and 360 wired Audiograms to assess your hearing capability. This will assess for conductive hearing loss. The findings of any investigation are fully explained and onward referral to Audiology is undertaken as part of the service if required. If you are suffering hearing loss, or you know someone who is, call the Clinic and we will explain what we can do for you.

Hi everyone, I’m Carly Wilson. I am part of the  Leyburn Health clinic team.

Having worked as a Podiatrist in the NHS for 19 years I have honed my skills in Specialist disciplines and in “high risk” patient clinics working with a multi disciplinary team of Health Professionals, including Orthopaedic, Endocrinology, and Specialist Infection control services. 

My Specialisms include Maggot Therapy, developed whilst treating extremely complex Podiatric patients.

I have a Masters in Musculoskeletal functionality and complications of the lower limb, including diagnosis and treatment of multiple foot pathologies, including Morton’s Neuroma, Plantar Fasciitis and Tibialis Posterior dysfunction.

I look forward to welcoming you to the Leyburn Health Clinic whether your needs are routine maintenance or the more complex issues.

I also perform toe nail removal under Local Anaesthetic when all other attempts to rectify and correct the ingrown nails have proved unsuccessful.
